Salary (£):  Voluntary Position

Community Fund Panel Member

LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT

Our community fund was set up in 2020 and in nearly 5 years we’ve given away more than £10million to support new projects by local charities and community groups in the Severn Trent region - helping to make a real and tangible difference in our communities.

Our customers, and the communities we live and work in, are at the heart of everything we do. And that’s why, we’re looking for passionate, community-minded individuals to join our Community Fund Customer Panel as volunteers who help decide how this money is spent.

If you care deeply about your community and want to help direct where our Community Fund money goes, this role could be for you.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

If you’re a Severn Trent customer living within our region and are eager to foster positive change, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll be part of an independent panel of customers who meet to review applications and decide where the funding goes, by making fair, evidence-based decisions on community projects, in line with our funding criteria.

Panel meetings are held twice a year in person, in March and September, at various locations across our region. These typically last around three hours (plus travel time, with expenses covered) and we host them at one of the many wonderful projects we’ve funded that usually includes a small tour and talk about what the organisation does and how our funding has made a real difference to them.

You’ll also have to review smaller projects remotely in the months of April and October submitting your decisions into our grant management system. We anticipate you’ll need to dedicate around four hours in these months to read the applications and make the decisions over which to fund.

This is a 12-month voluntary role, offering a meaningful way to make a difference in your community.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We’re looking for people with a positive, can-do attitude who want to roll up their sleeves and get involved.

While we value professional experience in areas like environmental protection, sustainability, youth work, diversity, and inclusion, your passion and commitment are just as important.

And if you have experience of working within the charity or volunteering sectors this would be greatly preferred, but not essential.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds because we believe that diverse perspectives make us better at serving our communities.

WHATS NEXT?

We can’t wait to hear from you.

Before you apply, you’ll need an updated copy of your CV and about five minutes to spare.
