Executive resourcing researcher

We’re Severn Trent and we think water is wonderful. And we’re pretty keen on people, too.

People are at the heart of what makes this company great and we're passionate about supporting nearly 10,000 individuals in delivering one of life's essentials to 8 million customers everyday.

If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

Let’s cut straight too it.

Executive resourcing is a type of recruitment that specialises in more senior, niche or confidential positions. Every piece of recruitment requires a systematic research focus to successfully identify the best candidates for each role  - the candidates we speak with are typically very senior and often are not actively looking to change jobs.

Let’s tell you more

We’re looking for a researcher to support our Executive resourcing team who will find us the best people, using a variety of methods to identify and approach (headhunt) potential candidates – speaking with them to promote Severn Trent, whilst assessing their suitability.

We also manage a variety of project work around talent management, succession planning, market intelligence at a senior level to make sure we know where our next leaders will come from.

We work closely with our Executive members on often strictly confidential projects, with potentially conflicting priorities. The challenge is remaining open and transparent with stakeholders to maintain relationships without compromising the integrity, confidentiality, or robustness of the work.

In the role you’ll manage the end-to-end process for candidates to offer a red-carpet service– from preparing role specifications, approaching and speaking with candidates, arranging interviews and everything in between until they join us.

This is genuinely a unique role within Severn Trent, where you’ll have close contact with our Executive members and insight into their teams.

What we’re looking for

This isn’t a typical recruitment role and we’re not looking for typical recruitment experience, rather someone who wants to build and develop their knowledge in executive recruitment.

We’re looking for someone with strong attention to detail who is comfortable managing senior level stakeholders, with strong communication and interpersonal capabilities - both written and spoken - and be able to use initiative and creativity to achieve the best outcome.

You’ll be passionate about, and motivated to, delivering a first class experience for both managers and candidates and be resilient and thoughtful in the face of competing priorities.

You’ll also need to display our values;

Curiosity: Being curious about how to achieve your goals is essential. Sometimes, we just need to try new things and cover the market to find the best people.

Care: It is only by talking to people that we can really learn about them and what type of role they are interested in. You’ll you need to be genuinely care about and be interested in the people you talk to and you need to informed and engaging about the opportunities you bring to them.

Courage: Sometimes we reach a candidate straight away and it is their dream role; at other times it’s much harder. The courage and determination to keep going to identify and reach these people to make sure they aren’t missing out on hearing about something that could be their ideal next role.

Pride: The pride people have in Severn Trent is often mentioned by candidates - and is our secret weapon in attracting people and turning their curiosity into genuine interest
