Our Project Management Graduate Programme offers the opportunity to get involved with some of Severn Trent’s most exciting projects.
A day in the life of a Project Management Graduate at Severn Trent involves a wide variety of activities.
Focusing on task like;
- Reviewing new project proposals and their deliverability.
- Providing advice in line with PMO guidelines.
- Engaging with the Design, Delivery and Commercial teams to agree the best project delivery route.
- Tracking delivery of the projects/programme and escalating issues as and when required.
- Managing and maintain the reporting process.
In addition to daily tasks there are plenty of opportunities to expand your network through social events and engagement activities across the department, this is vital for successful collaboration with cross-functional teams within technology.
You’ll spend time supporting the Project Management team which is structured functionally to support project and programme management. Graduates would be required to support multiple functions across the Project Management Office (PMO).
The aim of the programme is to provide assurance that programmes will deliver their objectives to schedule, through high quality governance groups and reporting. As well as this, you’ll undertake reporting, quality control, financial tracking, risk and issue tracking, change control and benefits tracking.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
You will expand your knowledge of project management as a whole. You’ll also gain a strong business and commercial acumen, developing your ability to communicate with a wide range of people as well as working across multiple functions within the Project Management Office.
You will learn the following either directly from placements, through supplementary training or project work:
- Opportunity to work across multiple projects and programmes within a large capital construction portfolio
- Develop key skills around:
- Project and Programme Management
- Stakeholder and Partnership Management
- Risk and Change Management
- Strategic Thinking
- Critical Thinking
- Managing people
- Schedule and Resource Management
TYPICAL OFF-SCHEME ROLE
This scheme will develop you into a capable PMO controller or PMO Planner.
Our New Talent Team will guide you and support you every step of the way. Furthermore, your line manager, mentor and buddy will be there to help you in making sure you reach your full potential here at Severn Trent.
Programme Duration: 27 months
Salary: £29,056
Entry Criteria: You’ll have solid knowledge of working in Excel, and it would be great if you have some experience of using tools such as Primavera P6 and MSP, however this is not essential.
A strong understanding of project controls such as financial, risk, and benefits management.
The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity and a caring attitude we want to talk to you, too.
Typical contracts are 37 hours per week, however there may be flexibility around the structure of your working hours, team and line manager dependent.
