Want to do the best work of your life? Playing your part in making a big difference to the environment and communities we serve. Our people make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your skills shine.

Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care.

Our finance business is looking to recruit our next Group Financial Accountant to come and join our dedicated and welcoming team.  We are looking for you to be comfortable with technical accounting to work on the delivery of Severn Trent’s group financial reporting and accounting service.  You will be charged with helping the wider finance team ensure compliance with group accounting policies and all relevant accounting standards.   The team are also responsible for the consolidation of the financial information for all entities within the Severn Trent group, including management and statutory accounts, budgets, plans and forecasts.

In this fast paced and highly rewarding role, you will be expected to work closely with our other specialist teams within the Finance Department including Tax, Group Treasury, FP&A and Investor Relations.

Are you a newly qualified finance professional, looking to make your next career step and wanting to learn and grow within a FTSE 100 company environment?

Well, if you are, read on.

Working as a key member of the team you will ensure the delivery of Severn Trent Plc group’s financial statements and interim reporting, all compliant with IFRS.  Along side this you will be delivering the year-end financial accounting process and play a key role in liaising with external auditors.  You will oversee accounting for complex areas including in relation to financial instruments, pensions and share based payments.

Alongside the day to day, you will look to maintain regular communication with subsidiary finance teams to understand any business developments, alongside leading them through the related financial reporting implications.  With this you will also guide these same teams through the implementation of any new accounting standards and associated business impacts being a subject matter expert for the business.  As this ‘SME’ you will monitor our compliance with group accounting policies and provide guidance on complex or subjective matters.

Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets, and those with the right experience but we value character, positivity and a caring attitude in equal weight.

We want people who show up and roll their sleeves up. Restless spirits who are ready to be part of something bigger, who care, who really care... because when you really care, you’ll go above and beyond. When you really care you don’t just talk about it, you do more.

We will be looking for you to have fully completed your financial accounting qualifications or in the process of being signed off this year.  Also we’ll be looking for you to have experience of working on group consolidations and listed companies, either as part of that business or as an auditor.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We employ thousands of people from across our community who really care about what they do. Because that is how we do what we do.

And when it comes to inclusion, we’re making sure we keep up the progress with our wonderful working groups – LGBTQ+, Women in Operations & STEM, Disability and Ethnicity; who help us do just that.

We do more, because we care.

It’s not just a job you’ll get here, you’ll get a career too. We have a range of benefits that reward and recognise great work and award-winning training to ensure you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the community in which we live.  Here’s some of our favourites:
