We have a fantastic opportunity within our Academy team for a Health and Safety Learning and Development (L&D) Consultant. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the continuous improvement of our health and safety practices through effective training and development initiatives. You’ll work closely with various stakeholders across the organisation to manage the design, delivery and quality assurance of health and safety training programs to ensure alignment with our strategic objectives and regulatory requirements. Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

 

  • Collaborate with managers, subject matter experts and stakeholders within Severn Trent. Specify the H&S training required to achieve our H&S vision that no-one is hurt or made unwell by what we do.
  • Work with H&S specialists to identify emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to enhance existing training programs and develop new initiatives as needed.
  • Use project management skills to ensure that programmes and events are delivered on time and within budget
  • Ensure that the delivery methods and design reflect the desired outcomes and audience requirements. 
  • Contribute to the delivery of HSW training, by conduct engaging and informative training sessions, workshops, and seminars on various health and safety topics.
  • Use a range of evaluation and assessment tools and opportunities to monitor the quality of delivery across the H&S learning journey.
  • Prepare documents to support the awarding of HSW training and development contracts with external providers.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including line managers, HR and H&S professionals to promote a culture of safety.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE 

 

To be considered for this role, we are looking for experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs, preferably in the utilities or manufacturing sector. Having an in-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., HSE, IOSH, NEBOSH) will be required. You’ll possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to present and influence individuals at all levels.
