EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW   

 

We have an exciting new opportunity for you to join our Finance team as a Finance Risk and Controls Lead Accountant based at our head office in Coventry. The role has been created following the Financial Reporting Council’s (FRC’s) implementation of the updated UK Corporate Governance Code which has strengthened board accountability for the effectiveness of risk and internal control frameworks and enhanced focus on the group’s corporate governance and processes relating to financial reporting.

 

This role will lead the group’s response to these reforms, focusing principally on the effectiveness of the group’s internal controls on financial reporting. The role will focus on documentation of control activities, implementation of control improvements, distribution of information and communication with the finance department and monitoring activities.  

 

Key responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Lead the financial reporting controls agenda
  • Maintain a programme of activities to enhance the controls culture in the Finance Team
  • Improve documentation of control activities and perform process risk assessments
  • Evaluate quality of data and information needed to support control objectives
  • Monitor and communicate monthly control compliance via finance-wide compliance meeting
  • Providing thought leadership on any further developments in corporate reform relating to financial reporting controls

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE  

 

To be considered for this role, you’ll need: 

 

  • Financial qualification in ACCA, ACA or CIMA
  • Ability to handle complex technical financial reporting/accounting issues.
  • Experience of a group consolidation process either as auditor or within a finance team.

In addition, you should have the ability to work as part of a team and adhere to challenging deadlines. Experience of operating and/or auditing financial reporting controls in a large/complex environment would be required. Having the ability to build strong and credible working relationships across the organisation is a must.
