We are seeking a Process Safety Engineer to support our Process Safety Business Lead in developing and delivering strategic objectives while fostering a safety culture of engagement, collaboration, and empowerment across the organisation.
 

 

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

 

As a Process Safety Engineer your primary objective is to develop and deliver process safety strategic objectives, providing subject matter expertise and driving improvements in process safety management. You will collaborate with operations teams, engineering, and other functions to embed process safety into ways of working and ensure compliance with safety legislation and best practices.

 

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

 

  • Develop a process safety framework and risk control standards to manage process safety and asset integrity risks.
  • Provide specialist advice on complex process safety issues throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Lead process hazard analysis studies (PHA’s) and undertake risk assessments using techniques such as HazOp’s, LOPA, and Bow Tie’s.
  • Support the business in Management of Change (MoC) assessments and develop process safety key performance indicators for performance monitoring.
  • Lead process safety incident investigations and provide root cause analysis, supporting the implementation of improvements.
  • Provide specialist support to internal stakeholders and lead process safety improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach colleagues to develop internal capability in process safety.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and safety improvement teams to reduce health and safety risks.
  • Define and develop training requirements and courses in collaboration with The Academy.

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

 

We’re seeking our new Process Safety Engineer to be comfortable developing an energetic, pro-active, and passionate team culture. To be successful, it’s expected that you’ll have the ability to work and lead initiatives within a team environment. You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills and have the ability to analyse and interpret data, including trend analysis.

 

You will also have strong influencing skills to drive performance within the business. As well as excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.

 

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in managing process safety risks and knowledge and application of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment techniques. You will be familiar with complex safety legislation and guidance such as COMAH, DSEAR, and PSSR.
