Would you like to join a best-in-class commercial team, be part of our pioneering projects, working with our in-house design and delivery team, and bring to life some of our biggest assets?

Our Capital Commercial team has it all.

The water industry is changing and we’re transforming it – that’s why we are investing over £2.5billion into construction projects over the next five years to improve the services we provide and the environment that we operate in. Our £565m Green Recovery programme will accelerate our environmental commitments and improve our resilience to meet customer needs and the challenge of climate change. We won’t just stop there – by 2030, we want to reach net zero and transform river quality as part of our Get River Positive pledges.

Within our Capital Commercial team, we are looking for Quantity Surveyors to support Severn Trent’s HS2 multimillion pound diversions scheme across Phase 1 and Phase 2a, spanning Coventry to Crewe. This is a perfect time to join us, as we transition to a new way of working, we are looking for fresh thinking to help shape and develop our business. We have a wide range of projects to deliver, so in this role you’ll get a unique exposure into the commercial and technical side of our business and a whole host of development opportunities which will build the skills you need to progress your career.

We’re looking for Quantity Surveyors who are up for something different, to join a successful, diverse and highly engaged team within our Capital Commercial department.

In this role you’ll negotiate contracts and provide commercial support throughout delivery, working closely with our design and delivery teams to manage internal and external stakeholders.

Supporting our Project Managers to make sure contracts are managed, including assessment of contract events and applications for payment, issuing contract notifications, and leading on dispute resolution.

Key to your success in the role will be the confidence to develop sourcing and contract strategies, and to draft, test and negotiate work orders with our contractors.

Do you have a passion to be part of something bigger, something ground breaking whether that’s for the environment or your community. We’d love to hear from you if…

  • You’re a Quantity Surveyor or have experience in both procurement and post-contract commercial / contract administration and are looking to progress your career in a place where you will be supported to grow every step of the way
  • Have excellent communication skills to liaise and influence a wide range of stakeholders
  • Attention to detail to ensure compliance with our procedures and accurate reporting through our systems
  • Have a passion for delivering great value for customers

Don’t worry if you don’t have a background in the utility sector – we welcome anyone with the relevant transferable skills and a can-do attitude. In return, we will support you every step of the way in your career journey with us, and that includes sponsoring your professional qualifications and investing in your ongoing development through our career progression framework.

Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets, and those with the right experience but we value character, positivity and a caring attitude in equal weight.

We want people who show up and roll their sleeves up. Restless spirits who are ready to be part of something bigger, who care, who really care... because when you really care, you’ll go above and beyond, you don’t just talk about it, you do more.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We employ thousands of people from across our community who really care about what they do. Because that is how we do what we do.

And when it comes to inclusion, we’re making sure we keep up the progress with our wonderful working groups – LGBTQ+, Women in Operations & STEM, Disability and Ethnicity; who help us do just that.

We do more, because we care.

It’s not just a job you’ll get here, you’ll get a career too. We have a range of benefits that reward and recognise great work and award-winning training to ensure you reach your potential.
