STS Sustainability Coordinator

Hello, we’re Severn Trent Services a commercial arm of the Severn Trent Group. We provide water and wastewater services to companies nationwide, including the MoD and The Coal Authority.

Our Sustainability approach is always evolving and includes liaising with many stakeholders including Severn Trent PLC, key customers, suppliers and our colleagues who are passionate about what they do.

 

Sustainability is critical for our key customers who require suppliers like STS to operate sustainably and work towards the UK Government’s Net Zero commitments. We believe that as well as mitigating the impacts of climate change and adding social value, sustainability provides potential opportunities for STS to extend and grow the services that we offer to the market.

 

We are now looking for a Sustainability Coordinator to join our team to help us deliver our aims and aspirations.

 

 

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

 

The Sustainability Coordinator will report to the STS Sustainability Manager and will work with all our teams across the UK to ensure a consistent approach across STS to help achieve our sustainability aims. Working across all STS business units, you’ll be involved in achieving our ambitious growth plans for existing and new services, for which sustainability is key.


You’ll engage with staff at all levels within STS and with colleagues in the wider Severn Trent Group organisation to obtain, collate, review and present sustainability and ESG information and data. 

 

Additionally, you’ll liaise with sustainability professionals in customer and supplier organisations and share data on sustainability metrics which we’ve developed for all parts of the STS business. 

 

You’ll also play your part in shaping and delivering STS’s sustainability strategy and ensure that we’re targeting the right areas and are on track.
 

Key Accountabilities:
 

Reporting, Monitoring & Presentation
 

  • Work with the STS Sustainability Manager to set and communicate sustainability topics for current and future reporting metrics and ensure that all STS business teams have processes in place to generate and capture key data.
     
  • Receive, collate, review and challenge data from STS colleagues to ensure that meaningful data is captured accurately, and that good progress is being made.
     
  • Ensure that all data is presented clearly and accurately and be responsible for owning and developing report formats over time. You’ll coordinate and host regular sustainability meetings with Sustainability Representatives from across STS.
     
  • Work with STS business teams and the STS Comms and Marketing team to create Sustainability Case Studies, documents, reports and social media content which demonstrate our commitment to sustainability.

 

Liaison with External Customers and Suppliers
 

  • Work with the STS Sustainability Manager to identify and map key stakeholders within external Customer and supplier organisations. You’ll engage with Customer and supplier teams to create and develop meaningful and efficient metrics that can be readily reported by STS and STS suppliers.
     
  • Prepare, check and secure approval to issue sustainability reports to senior customer stakeholders on a wide range of Carbon, Environmental, Social and Governance topics.
     
  • Support the organisation of internal and external events that support STS’s focus on Sustainability and demonstrate service capabilities to new or existing Customers.

 

Driving Sustainability in STS
 

  • As individual projects and initiatives are identified, you will have the opportunity to own and drive individual projects to achieve desired outcomes.

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

 

To succeed in this role, you’ll have a track record of being able to communicate with internal and external stakeholders across an organisation. You’ll also have high attention to detail with a flair for analysing, assessing and presenting complex data and practical experience of using Excel.

 

A passion for sustainability is essential. It would also be beneficial if you come from an environmental background and have a keen interest water and the environment including Net Zero and mitigating climate impacts.

 

As travel is required, you’ll need to hold a full U.K driving licence. The role requires working with sensitive customer data so you’ll need to be able to secure MoD Security Clearance to Basic Check (BC) level.
