The Information Security Design and Engineering team at Severn Trent do a wonderful job at protecting the business, our people, and our customers from these daily threats, and we have an opportunity for you to join the team as our new Senior Information Security Engineer.

As our Senior Information Security Engineer, you'll join a team who’re responsible for the design, engineering, technical delivery, maintenance and improvements of the systems and applications for the Information Security Office.

You’ll not only be responsible for the development and updating of multiple systems or products in conformance with security requirements and standards throughout its lifecycle, but also in leading the other Information Security Engineers in the systems they’re responsible for. You’ll ensure you understand the overall landscape to support the production of strategy documents, produce the detailed technical designs, implementation and tuning of a combination of security controls to balance prevention, detection, response, and useability.

Your key accountabilities will include:

Predict and proactively protect Severn Trent in engineering secure solutions from inception to retirement, reducing the risk of a cyber event impacting customers, colleagues, or reputation
Development of information security portfolios using components, tools, techniques, and methodologies which minimise the chance of creating vulnerabilities in the products
Lead complex integration of security products into more complex systems, including cloud-based systems
Produce documentation suites for all levels of the organisation to drive cyber mindset on the products and services to guide senior stakeholders, implementers, system operators and administrators and, sometimes, end users
Prioritise, review and process incoming engineering requests from Cyber Security stakeholders and others, ensuring they’re resolved in a timely manner, as well as being part of the team in testing and implementing technology configuration changes and updates.
Work with other areas of the Information Security team with subject matter experience, resolution of issues and transfer of knowledge through training, support materials and workshops
Provide technical guidance and leadership for at a portfolio of the products within the cyber portfolio, being the expert for a system we manage

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets, and those with the right experience but we value character, positivity, and a caring attitude in equal weight.

You’ll have experience of working within Information Security operations and engineering functions, with further experience in the development and documentation of integrated solution and detailed designs.

In terms of qualifications, you’ll have achieved an industry recognised certification, such as CCSP, CISSP, or a BCS certificate in information security management.

Ideally, we’d like you to have knowledge and experience in Cloud development techniques and configuring and implementing software and hardware security components, including cryptographic solutions. Additionally, we’d like you to have a good understanding of security technology controls such as Identify & Access Management, Endpoint Protection, Network Security, Office 365 & Email Security, Application Security, Cloud Platform Security and Operational Technology Security.

As you’ll be leading a team, you’ll need to possess experience of mentoring, coaching, and developing peers and be able to articulate ways to develop and help the team overcome adversities.

Whilst very technical, this role requires you to have the ability to influence decision making across different teams, using logical thinking and problem-solving skills to mediate a variety of challenges.
