With that in mind we’re looking for a Senior Innovation Technical Expert to head up our exciting Net Zero Programme. Working on a range of projects form pilot to full scale, you will be working on investigating cutting edge technologies as we move towards Net Zero operational emissions. Working with a wide range of teams to support the delivery of these technologies from design, through commissioning to embedding and translating into practice. Given the scale of this challenge, this is an exciting opportunity to help translate industry leading research, into practical action at full scale.
Do you have excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels of business? And do you have the ability to write clear and concise technical reports, briefings, presentations, & business cases? Importantly, can you understand large, complex data sets and have the skills to translate this into tangible outputs on site? Or perhaps you have proven experience or a qualification in chemical and biological processes or something similar?
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As part of this role, you will be taking on projects that have been scoped in conjunction with our strategic colleagues and turning these outline scopes into a technical trial. Following this, you will need to ensure that the trial is effective at demonstrating innovative technology or a process that is feasible, viable, scalable, and most importantly effectively meets a business challenge. Sounds exciting right?!
You will work with a wide range of other departmental teams to ensure the project is delivered to the right standard with all the necessary outcomes achieved, therefore having excellent communication and stakeholder skills are key. A critical part of this is understanding your stakeholders around the business and being skilful at presenting your findings to gain their buy-in, so that the insight you produce lands effectively and contributes to driving continuous improvement and becomes the technology or process of tomorrow.
You will need to work independently by your own initiative and, importantly, as part of a high performing team, demonstrating Severn Trent’s values of Pride, Courage, Curiosity and Care at your core and uphold excellent safety behaviours. WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
To be successful in this role it is expected that you will have strong scientific and technical expertise and be considered an expert in your field. We have an important task of tackling the big future challenges and ensuring we deliver the business robust, viable solutions in a timely fashion, if you want to be part of that mission then read on.
As a Senior Innovation Technical Expert you will be expected to take ownership of the technical and scientific aspects of one of our strategic programmes of work, in this instance, Net Zero, having in depth detail of your own projects but also a sound understanding of those which fall within the programme remit, including technical approvals of reports and solving appropriate escalations. You will be expected to be a role model to the rest of the Technical Team and support the upskilling and development of your colleagues.
