Senior Procurement Manager

 

Within our Procurement team here in Coventry, we’re recruiting a Senior Procurement Manager to strategically own and manage the Facilities Management and Property category. 

  

You’ll manage the full end to end delivery of the category to include strategic sourcing, running regulated tender processes and contract managing 3 of our key FM contracts. You’ll work to deliver a sustainable supply chain that ensures our external expenditure is effectively managed, delivering the lowest costs and highest standards whilst driving excellent performance from our supply chain partners.  

  

In this position you’ll be working with senior stakeholders across the business, so communication skills are key in this role and as a senior member of the team, you’ll be on hand to guide and support our Assistant Buyers and Category Managers as they look to progress in their careers. 

  

The FM & Property category is a highly strategic area of spend as it impacts every aspect of our business. As a performance driven, sustainably led business this category is key in achieving this ambition and this role will be at the centre of driving and shaping the commercial strategy in this area.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW 

   

 Your key accountabilities in helping us will be: 

  • Profile and research supply markets and suppliers to assess trends, opportunities and risks 

  • Develop and implement category strategies which fulfil business requirements against costs and performance and recommend strategic sourcing options and implementation plans that ensure compliance with legislative requirements 

  • Proactively lead tendering and supplier selection processes 

  • Monitor the usage of contracts implemented and put in place actions to maximise contract compliance 

  • Lead negotiations with sophisticated suppliers through proven negotiation tactics 

  • Ensure the timely delivery of Procurement projects which achieve targeted savings and drive a high value outcome for Severn Trent Water 

  • Oversee and manage a portfolio of contracts effectively 

  • Providing contract support to both STW and contract staff, on contract mechanisms, incentive mechanisms, payment and authorisation processes. 

  • Develop and implement the strategic direction for supplier performance, terms compliance and cost management working with managers at Severn Trent 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

You’ll join our team with a strong commercial background, gained ideally within a regulated environment, Utilities sector or large, complex organisation. 

From a technical standpoint, you’ll have experience and knowledge of modern purchasing processes (e.g. managing tenders & contracts), alongside a good understanding of end-to-end category management, with a proven ability to develop and articulate category strategies. 

  

Additionally, it would be advantageous if you hold an appropriate professional qualification (e.g. CIPS).
