We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Standards & Assurance Manager to be accountable for ensuring that all elements of standards and assurance compliance are effectively managed, reviewed, and implemented to the highest standards across the full Mains Renewal function. The role has direct line management responsibility for a team of circa 8, including Standards & Compliance Specialists and Water Quality Assurance Specialists.
You’ll sign off changes to SOPS, escalating as required to the Business Leader and Strategic Lead. They will work closely with Network Construction Managers and Lead Operatives to ensure that SOPS are correctly implemented and followed by the Construction Teams.

Key responsibilities will include:
- This role is business critical in driving and managing performance & assurance across the Mains Renewal function; the Standards and Assurance Manager will be key to driving the Construction Team performance, working in collaboration with all Mains Renewal teams.
- Responsible for line managing a team of circa 8 colleagues, including Standards & Compliance Specialists and Water Quality Assurance Specialists.
- Accountable for ensuring that standards & assurance compliance is kept up to date, managed, reviewed, and delivered to the highest standards across the mains renewal function.
- Accountable for ensuring a robust water quality process is followed, and that effective and consistent water quality assurance is delivered across the mains renewal function, delivering the best possible water quality to our customers.
- Responsible for ensuring and evidencing effective Standards, SOPs & SSOW (Safe Systems of Work) compliance across the end-to-end mains renewal programme.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
The ideal candidate will possess experience in managing compliance and assurance activities, preferably within a dynamic operational setting. Experience in handling large and complex projects that affect multiple external stakeholders is advantageous. Proactivity in planning, coordinating, and directing activities, along with the ability to effectively manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, is essential. A full UK Driving License is required, as this role involves traveling to various sites across the region.
