We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our CIPS accredited Procurement and Contract Management team as our new Supply Chain Sustainability Specialist based at our head office in Coventry.

 

The role of our Supply Chain Sustainability Specialist, you’ll be developing the strategies that underpin our sustainability framework and transposing these into our procurement activities. You’ll be working closely with our Supply Chain, Procurement & Contract Management, Commercial  and Corporate Sustainability Teams, to help make a tangible difference to the communities we serve. 

 


Key Accountabilities: 

 

• Work along-side the Procurement & Contract Management teams to ensure sustainability is an integral element of their category and supplier manage-ment strategies.

 

• Support the delivery of Severn Trent’s supply chain sustainability strategy, with particular focus on engaging with suppliers to provide carbon data and to set a Science-based target.  

 

• Act as an internal and external representative for Severn Trent’s Supply Chain sustainability policies and projects, including external networking groups; with a key focus on Scope 3 emissions. 

 

• Support the delivery of Severn Trent’s wider supply chain sustainability strategy, including adherence to our Sustainable Supply Chain Charter, driving supplier assessment through EcoVadis and multi-stakeholder reporting on performance.  

 

• Provide expert advice and lead on recommendations to the business on aspects of sustainability, specifically on, Carbon reduction, Commercial mechanisms and new technologies to advance embedding sustainability within procurement and the supply chain.  

 

• Co-develop and deliver a strategy which ensures carbon reduction is a key consideration is adopted internally across our procurement & commercial functions CCS and across our supply chain, ensuring it supports Severn Trent’s Sustainability Framework. This includes the development of associated targets and initiatives e.g., low carbon solutions for capital works.   

 

• Develop and drive an engagement plan that promotes a carbon reduction across the supply chain. This includes building knowledge and capability through training and tools.   

 

• Influence Procurement and Contract Management activity to ensure sustainability, specifically carbon reduction principles, are considered and embed-ded within key category and supplier management strategies, including at supplier selection and throughout contract delivery.   

 

• Support the Sustainability Team to report more accurately on scope 3 emissions.  

 

• Ensure that suppliers align with our sustainability objectives and raise awareness of our commitment to sustainability.

 


WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE


To be considered for this role, It would be great if you have a proven track record in delivering supply chain sustainability at a strategic level. Even better if you have a history of delivering sustainable policies within a corporate environment, alongside demonstrable characteristics to include strong influencing, negotiating, engagement and communication skills. 


It would be desirable if you are CIPS qualified, but don’t worry if you’re not – we’d still love to hear from you if you have the skills and experience outlined above.
