If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As a Technical Writer within Severn Trent's Asset Data Governance & Standards team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the clarity, accuracy, and consistency of our asset data through the curation of our asset data standards. You will collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to define key data and quality metrics, implement internal assurance audits, and contribute to regulatory audits for our data standards and processes. Your expertise will help maintain high standards of data governance and quality management, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of our asset management processes.

Some of your key accountabilities include:

  • Authoring and Maintaining Documentation: Create, update, and manage comprehensive asset data standards documents, ensuring they are clear, accurate, and accessible to all stakeholders.
  • Defining Data Requirements and Quality Metrics: Work alongside SMEs to establish key data and quality metrics that align with industry standards and business goals.
  • Implementing Internal Assurance Audits: Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with established data standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Supporting Regulatory Audits: Contribute to regulatory audits by preparing necessary documentation and ensuring all data standards are met.
  • Collaborating with Cross-Functional Teams: Engage with various teams across Severn Trent to gather information, provide guidance, and ensure consistent application of data standards.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

To succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have proven success in developing data standards within the utilities, asset management or construction sectors. You should demonstrate the ability to collaborate with stakeholders, identifying and solving complex problems related to asset data.

In terms of capabilities, you should possess exceptional written and visual communication skills, enabling the creation of clear, concise, and engaging documentation. Strong interpersonal skills are critical, as the role involves effective collaboration with SMEs and cross-functional teams, fostering a cooperative and productive work environment.

It would also be beneficial if you have knowledge of ISO 8000-150 Data Management and ISO 9001 for Quality Management and ideally come from a water/gas background, but this is not essential.
