Senior Project Manager
Want to do the best work of your life? Playing your part in making a big difference to the environment and communities we serve.
Our people make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your skills shine.
Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care.
Our ambitious and innovative projects (all 5000+ of them) help to combat the challenges in water treatment, water resource, environment and water quality. Being part of our inhouse Design team means we can meet these challenges, delivering the best for our customers and for our precious water.
Which is why we are investing over £6billion into construction projects over the next five years to improve the services we provide.
We have a brilliant opportunity to join our Capital and Commercial Services directorate as a Senior Project Manager in our Water Treatment Design Team based in Derby, Coventry and Shrewsbury.
If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Senior Project Manager role is responsible for management of water treatment projects to achieve delivery of design within time, cost, and quality, as well as supporting other programmes and efficiency drivers within the team.
Throughout the projects you will be meeting regularly with the design consultants, the project teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the design is completed within programme and cost while meeting our standards.
You will be responsible for managing multiple projects through feasibility, outline and detail design. You will help us to generate the best overall solutions to the challenges of tomorrow’s environmental needs and consumer expectations.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Ideally qualified in a technical engineering, project management or design related discipline. Having water industry background would be great but is not essential, some experience in a highly regulated industry such as water, petrochemical, pharmaceutical or power will be beneficial. You will have a strong background working with standards and codes of practice, with experience of providing design information and specifications for commercial negotiations.
You will have a strong ability to build successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds, and hold a relentless drive for continuous improvement, with the ability to innovate and anticipate unexpected issues and challenges as they arise.
To do this role you will have a robust understanding of CDM regulations.
You will deliver projects to programme, within budget, to the correct quality standards.
You will be able to make educated judgments and decisions in the face of ambiguity, and have a good grasp of the bigger picture, seeking opportunities to contribute to the wider agenda. Be part of developing the future design team!
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity and a caring attitude we want to talk to you, too.
Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets, and those with the right experience but we value character, positivity and a caring attitude in equal weight.
We want people who show up and roll their sleeves up. Restless spirits who are ready to be part of something bigger, who care, who really care... because when you really care, you’ll go above and beyond. When you really care you don’t just talk about it, you do more.
We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We employ thousands of people from across our community who really care about what they do. Because that is how we do what we do.
And when it comes to inclusion, we’re making sure we keep up the progress with our wonderful working groups – LGBTQ+, Women in Operations & STEM, Disability and Ethnicity, who help us do just that.
We do more, because we care.
