With that in mind we’re looking for an Assistant Asset Engineer to help us in developing our portfolio management and business planning within Tactical Asset Planning. Do you have project management, project co-ordination or PMO skills? Or do you have advanced data analysis skills? Can you utilise tools such as Power BI to generate insights and reports? Can you contribute to the development, execution, and monitoring of project plans? Or perhaps you have relative experience with a degree in a relevant Engineering, Scientific or Environmental Discipline?

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Assistant Engineer to join our team, primarily supporting Portfolio Management and Business Planning within the Tactical Asset Planning function. As an Assistant Asset Engineer, you'll be a crucial part of our Tactical Asset Planning team. You'll support the development and implementation of our asset management strategy, helping us make informed decisions about where to invest resources. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to tactical decision-making.
You'll play a pivotal role in identifying and developing effective solutions to complex wastewater network challenges, ensuring long-term network health and optimal performance. This is a technical role focused on driving solution development through a Engineering and data-driven approach.
This role is within the wastewater networks infrastructure element of the Severn Trent Value Chain. As an Assistant Asset Engineer, you’ll support the Tactical Asset Planning Manager and Senior Asset Engineers within our team, and will be responsible for conducting research, analysis, and overarching project management of financial, risk and project related data to ensure the best information is available to enable the team to make key investment decisions (technical, financial and commercial feasibility).
The role will be all encompassing, allowing you to have a central role in supporting the development and implementation of the Tactical Asset Planning Strategy but also Assisting in applying asset management principles and administration to some of our key asset classes.
We’re wanting someone to come into this role to analyse and identify potential problems to enable the team to produce the best life cycle decisions to ensure our assets are fit for the future.
Your Responsibilities:
- Translate data and modelling insights into detailed system-based solutions for wastewater network challenges.
- Collaborate with Asset Management Specialists to understand root causes and develop targeted solutions.
- Conduct feasibility studies, including cost-benefit analysis and risk assessment, to evaluate potential solutions.
- Develop comprehensive solution proposals, including implementation plans, resource requirements, and expected outcomes.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions align with overall network objectives and priorities.
- Decision Making: Provide clear and concise communication to support Capital Maintenance and Capital investment decision-making.
- Collaboration: Actively participate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to share best practices and identify emerging solutions.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
It's key that you have strong analytical, a project management/co-ordination process, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of waste networks would be beneficial, but skills or experience in implementation and delivery of projects at project or portfolio level (including PMO) would be advantageous.
Of course it’s important that we attract the right skill sets, and those with the right experience but we value character, positivity and a caring attitude in equal weight.

- Strong understanding of wastewater network processes, risks, and management strategies.
- Proven track record in collecting, analysing, and interpreting complex wastewater network data.
- Solution-oriented mindset with a passion for developing solutions.
- Strong project management skills, with an interest in cost-benefit analysis and business case development.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- Salary range of £29,304 – £32,307
