This operational role is to provide dependable customer service within set timescales. This will be achieved through an effective installation on the Company’s infrastructure assets – pipes & ancillary fittings.  The role will be home-based working in the east region, covering areas such as Mansfield, Derby, Nottingham, and Leicester.


The Developer Services team are responsible for the Installation of new water connections on Severn Trent’s underground water network.  This includes the design, quote and installation of all new connections.


Due to the nature of this role, you’ll be someone with experience of working in an operational role, ideally within a utility based industry who holds a valid driving licence and with experience of working with customers on a face to face basis. 


You’ll be required to work 40 hours per week typically Monday-Friday and then once a month to include working a weekend shift.

Your key accountabilities in helping us on our journey will be:  


Delivering customer service of the highest standard, working to deliver the job right first time, every time.  You’ll present a professional image at all times, particularly when dealing with customers and the public.   To achieve this you’ll be communicating with customers to clearly explain the reason for your visit and provide any advice required.  You’ll keep the customer informed and up to date on timescales for follow on work and respond to customer service issues that are raised on-site and, taking ownership of the issue, escalating to the appropriate person/team.


You’ll undertake the full range of duties involved in delivering an effective Installation of new water connections including using a range of innovative technologies and equipment to ensure water supplies are connected on time, at the same time as accurately and timely recording all job details using a sitemate.


It’s important that you are accountable for your own health & safety and also you have a duty of care to your colleagues & anyone affected by the work you do, for example general public / site personnel.  You’ll exercise good judgment in terms of the risk / impact to our customers, the general public, and road-traffic users, relative to the activity in hand, and to ensure compliance with our statutory, regulatory and company standards at all times.


It would be preferred if you had any of the following qualifications / training; Mains & Service Laying Training, Underground Cable Detection qualification, Manual Handling Training, Mini Digger qualification, NRSWA Training.

In addition to operational and customer service experience that would be required for this role, we’re also looking for you to be IT literate – able to use MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel in a working environment.
