We’re looking for the right person to join our Developer Services team working across the North and East region as a Connection Quotation Engineer on a 12 month secondment. You’ll provide a friendly, proactive, and informative quotation and inspection service to our small customer base, their consultants, and builders across Mansfield, Chesterfield, Worksop and Sheffield, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.






In this role you’ll quote the job, trace mains, spec traffic management requirements, liaise with the Highways Authorities about working restrictions and provide the customer with a quote to get a 10/10 service from the customer.



You’ll provide full compliance to the Traffic Management Act and water fittings obligations and enabling a ‘connect first time’ ethos.



You’ll make sure you update the customer prior to and during all site visits and provide detailed quote and inspection breakdown/feedback, relevant documentation and next steps where required.  As part of your inspection, you’ll complete a technical assessment to correctly trace the mains and mark up.



You’ll physically assess and technically problem solve difficult connections, taking into consideration both customers, health and safety, regulation, and Severn Trent needs and carry out service connection inspections in line with our water fitting obligations.



You’ll be assessing with Councils, Connection Gang Supervisors and key people impacted by the potential work to understand traffic sensitivity, Traffic Management Act (TMA) design requirements & private land entry (you’ll be responsible for correctly identifying private land status).



The role is home based but will require you to travel to customers across our region so a driving licence is essential. We will support you with a company car or car allowance.

We’re looking for someone with previous experience of working in field delivery, with knowledge of the design and construction of water mains, who has broad experience in Sewerage, Water Industry Act, water regulations, Health & Safety and NRSWA, as well as experience of water fittings regulations.



You’ll also be able to foster excellent relationships with experience of managing contractors.  



Accuracy is key as well as being able to offer excellent customer service.



The ability to influence and communicate needs and requirements of the customer to make sure works are delivered to time and standards both written and verbal will be key to this role, as well as communicating and educating the customer themselves through every interaction with them to make sure they are clear on the quote breakdown, timelines, payment / inspection requirements and next steps.



As well as your basic network/hydraulic knowledge, you’ll have the ability to deal with complex issues and translate into clear and concise instructions.  We would also expect you to be proficient using IT systems as you’ll using these regularly as part of the role.
