As a Large Diameter Mains Team Manager you will ensure a continuous supply of clean water to our customers. You will manage resources, including people, assets, IT, and finance, to meet regulatory and company targets. Your responsibilities include leading the team to operate and maintain the large diameter mains network, which supplies our Water Treatment Works, Strategic Reservoirs, and DMAs. You will oversee the maintenance and repair of all assets, such as tunnels, conduits, pipes, siphons, and ancillary assets, ensuring efficient water transport across the strategic grid.
Please note that some travel will be a requirement, as well as taking part in a standby rota to ensure 24/7 cover of your region.
Your key accountabilities in helping us will be:
- Leading and inspiring a skilled team of Large Main Technicians
- Maintaining fleet vehicles and equipment in a state of readiness, with teams trained and confident in their use.
- Coordinating and managing contractors and staff for asset repair and proactive maintenance.
- Driving a proactive approach to prevent asset failure and ensure water transport across the strategic grid.
- Reducing water supply interruptions through proactive maintenance and improving response times.
- Organizing logistics and equipment deployment during incidents, available 24/7.
- Leading and developing a high-performing team through communication, site visits, and training.
- Continuously improving operations by eliminating waste and inefficiency.
- Managing budgets, including operational and capital expenditure, and delivering efficiencies.
A full UK driving license is a requirement for this role.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing, leading, and inspiring teams in a pressurized, customer-focused environment. We are seeking someone who has experience dealing with complex employee relations and performance issues, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work to targets, handle pressure, and manage emergency situations is essential.
It would be advantageous if you have technical understanding of water distribution, aqueduct, and trunk main networks. Additionally, you should possess strong problem-solving and organizational skills, be IT literate, and have experience working with customers and the general public to deliver excellent customer service while meeting both customer and business needs.
