Our Water Treatment team have a great opportunity for you to join as our new Maintenance Instrumentation Technician based in Little Eaton.

 

The position offers an opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team working on a variety of equipment and assets, where you will have the opportunity to embrace curiosity and develop new skills outside of your normal day to day activities.

 

You’ll be responsible for making sure our treatment processes are working optimally to deliver important work enhancing our regions rivers. The role will consist of…

 

  • Carrying out service, repair and replacement of assets such as pressure, level, flow, temperature monitoring equipment, PLC/HMI systems including Allen-Bradley and Mitsubishi, Telemetry outstations and SCADA packages
  • Continuously improve instrumentation asset base and control.
  • Fault finding and diagnostics
  • Interpret and update technical drawings
  • Supporting the Design and Build of new processes
  • Owns site automation and control processes
  • Monitor treatment processes using SCADA system and act on alarms as required
  • Proactively review the health and availability of assets on site
  • On site testing to provide assurance of online monitors and validate process
  • Proactive ordering of consumables and spares
  • Actively challenge any activity or practices that could have an adverse impact on the health and safety of employees or customers, the quality of the final water or the environment.

 

You will be based at one of our main sewage treatment works dependant on home location and will be provided with a vehicle for business use, laptop, safety clothing and tools appropriate to the job. As part of your ongoing professional development, you will be required to upskill as a LV/HV SAP which will come with an additional allowance on top of your basic salary.

 

In this role you’ll help with preventive maintenance working techniques and practices and be able to bring significant experience of working with industrial equipment. You’ll undertake fault diagnostics and have the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner. 

 

The core working hours are Monday to Friday, you will also participate in a 24/7 stand-by rota.

 

The role is part of a competency framework to support your development from “Foundation” through to “Skilled”, with the option to progress to “Expert” status.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

 

Along with your experience, you must hold…

 

  • NVQ level 3 Instrumentation & Electrical qualification
  • Experience and skills in PLC’s, control equipment or commissioning activities
  • A full UK driving licence will be required for the role

You will also be considered if you have obtained NVQ 3 level 3 Electrical qualification with relevant instrumentation experience.

 

You’ll be expected to know how to work with process control systems and have a working knowledge of industrial electrical installation requirements and standards. In Severn Trent we use a number of different devices on the job so your experience working with various IT systems will be great.

 

You must have sound diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Basic instrumentation skills are desirable but not essential as there will be an opportunity to upskill and develop a second skill set.
