We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality. We know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our customers and the communities where they live.
If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.
Here at Severn Trent we take pride in knowing we come to work each day and help make a difference to our customers, working together with our colleagues to solve problems as soon as we can.
Our Ranger role sits at the heart of this value with the opportunity to really make a difference to our customers.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

You’ll be the first point of contact ensuring we deliver high quality conservation, recreation and education.
We’re seeking someone who has an interest in maintaining areas, such as nature reserves and sites of special scientific interest. And of course it’s important you possess a natural passion for delivering great customer service.
We are also looking for someone that is comfortable using social media to engage with customers/visitors through creating engaging conversations and content that help our customers get information on our visitors centre.
You’ll know Facebook, Twitter and Instagram well and you’ll understand how to interact on those platforms.
The working hours for this role are typically 37 hrs per week between the hours of 8:30-16:30 Monday - Sunday (of course this means you will get time off in the week on your scheduled Saturday/Sunday)
Sound like you? Then read on.
Your key accountabilities in helping us will be:
- Practical grounds maintenance and conservation management using power tools, (strimmers, brushcutters, chainsaws etc) on primary site and secondary satellite sites.
- Be an ambassador for Severn Trent and helping out visitors to the sites with any queries they may have.
- Responsible for carrying out H&S Inspections across the site location.
- Managing all forms of volunteering including recruitment, work planning, supervision and managing their safety to ensure that we have a well-motivated team.
- Creating conservation initiatives and directly liaising with partners and the catchment team.
- Being the public face of Severn Trent and being able to demonstrate first class customer service at all times
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
We are looking for people that have experience in Customer Service, Countryside, conservation, and Visitor management.
Event organising and being familiar with outdoor sports is important for this role such as fishing, cycling and walking as this is what a lot of visitors will be doing across the areas you will be helping to maintain.
Having the ability to work with a large range of different people is important such as volunteers, contractors and partners as this will vary day to day.
A health and safety management qualification as well as some practical qualification such as chainsaws, wood chippers and trailer towing would be great too.
You’ll also need to have a full UK driving license for this role as it does involve some travel to and from sites.
The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity and a caring attitude we want to talk to you, too.
We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities.
We want people who show up and get involve. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care.
