If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

Our bioresources team have a great opportunity for you to join as our new Maintenance Mechanical Technician.

You must have sound diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Basic fabrication skills are also required along with good general knowledge of workshop practice.

The role holder is likely to be based at one of our main Wastewater/Bioresources treatment sites in Gloucestershire dependant on home location but will mainly start from home straight to site working throughout the local geographical area; the role holder must be willing to travel across the Worcestershire-Gloucestershire region.  You will be provided with a vehicle for business use, laptop and safety clothing appropriate to the job. The position offers an opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team working on a variety of equipment and assets, where you will have the opportunity to embrace curiosity and develop new skills outside of your normal day to day activities.

Any additional technical training required will also be covered and great working hours too (Monday - Thursday 7.30am-3.30pm and Friday 7.30am-3pm).

The successful candidate will participate in a 24/7 stand-by rota.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

In this role you’ll help with preventive maintenance working techniques and practices and be able to bring significant experience of working with industrial equipment (mechanical drives, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, pumps). You’ll undertake fault diagnostics and have the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner.

You’ll be expected to know how to work with process control systems and have a working knowledge of industrial electrical installation requirements and standards. In Severn Trent we use a number of different devices on the job so your experience working with various IT systems will be great.

To be a success in this role, along with your experience we will be looking for you to have obtained a NVQ level 3 mechanical qualification and also have completed a relevant apprenticeship to help you in the role. A full UK driving licence will be required for the role.

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity, and a caring attitude we want to talk to you too.
