Fleet Compliance Manager

When people think of Severn Trent, they immediately think of water and waste – and that's only natural – it's our bread and butter after all… but you might not realise we have a thriving Fleet team who currently manage, repair and maintain a fleet of over 2,900 vehicles!   From company cars to water tankers, we ensure that Severn Trent can safely transport equipment, valuable resources and our teams around safely and efficiently from A to B, day in day out.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our fleet is crucial to so much of the work that Severn Trent does for our customers and communities, which is why being our Fleet Compliance Manager is such an important job.  In this bespoke and high-profile role, you will be responsible for overseeing the compliance of all our fleet operations, including services provided by third party providers.  This is so to ensure that as a business, Severn Trent adheres to all regulatory requirements and internal policies.

You will be responsible for developing Severn Trent’s fleet compliance strategy, as well as being responsible for designing, building and reviewing the compliance program tools to ensure, as a business, we’re first and foremost compliant and leading the way in our field.

With this in mind, one of your first tasks will be to develop and lead a thorough companywide review of all Fleet and Operator License activity against legislative requirements, policy and industry standards, identifying current risks and challenges while developing a strategy to achieve and maintain demonstrable compliance.

Other key accountabilities for the role include:-

  • Influence senior stakeholders across multiple areas including operations, fleet, technology, finance and legal to support proposed solutions and resource requirements to deliver your strategy.
  • Continually assess and enhance the effectiveness of the Fleet compliance strategy and programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Fleet compliance strategy and programs while implementing improvements based on these findings to comply with company & industry standards.
  • Lead a cross functional team to design and deliver a suite of compliance programs and tools including policies, metrics, audits, systems, processes and communication platforms to ensure our compliance is best in class.
  • Develop clear and concise policies that outline the compliance requirements and expectations for all employees and identify key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure compliance.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

As you can see this is a pretty exciting opportunity, but it doesn’t come without its pressures.  We’ll be looking for you to have proven experience of delivering, from concept to implementation, a compliance audit program to improve compliance, ideally in a fleet/transport setting.  It’ll also be great if you have demonstratable experience of leading teams and building internal and external relationships in a fast-moving environment.

Communication will be key in the role and having a range skills to clearly and confidently deliver a message to a variety of stakeholders from Senior Leaders to Operational teams and being able to tailor that message would make you stand out from the crowd. As will having an ability to lead and motivate teams, including cross functional teams, towards successful delivery of the programme objectives.
