We have an opportunity for you to join our Communications team as our new Community Communications Officer, covering the Leicestershire region.

As our Community Communications Officer, you’ll be responsible for locally engaging our company campaigns including Get River Positive, water saving, reducing blockages in our sewers, and our brand new plans to address water poverty in some of our more socially deprived regions.

 

You’ll also be responsible for delivering communications packages for capital construction projects that will be taking place throughout the region. We know that capital construction work can impact our customers daily lives, and it will down to you to keep our customers informed of what we’re doing, how we’ll minimise disruption to them, and help them to explore the benefits of the work we’re undertaking using a local engagement approach across multiple communications channels.

Your key accountabilities will be:

 

  • Improving our CMeX score by engaging with customers and showcasing the work Severn Trent does to be a respected and pivotal member of the Community within the regions it serves
  • Create opportunities to place Severn Trent as a local company serving local people
  • Connect with the community, customers, stakeholders and employees in your region. Utilising your network of relationships to engage all audiences, delivering consistent key messaging and sharing up to date, relevant information.
  • Securing ongoing sponsorship and support at local events in your area communities positioning Severn Trent as part of the community and driving recognition and positive perception.
  • Working with our capital delivery teams to create and deliver stakeholder and communications plans for schemes in your county utilising all comms channels – including letters, webpages, press releases, face to face community engagement, public exhibitions, hyperlocal marketing and social media
  • Management of customer complaints arising from capital schemes in your area

You’ll join the team with demonstratable experience within Communications, along with possessing robust influencing and stakeholder management skills.

 

You’ll be an expert on your local county and will have the skills to build excellent relationships with our internal teams and key external stakeholders, as well as the communication skills to bring local stories about our work to life.

 

To be successful, you’ll have experience with local government and other key local community stakeholders, as well as experience in community engagement work across various channels, including organising drop-ins and events, social media, marketing and the creation and delivery of communication plans.

 

We’d love for you to have experience of working with the press and managing external media, with an understanding of what makes for an engaging story. Finally, it would be ideal if you understand capital work projects and process, preferably within a utility industry.

 

Due to nature of this role, it is essential for you to hold a Full UK Driving License and have the capability to travel across the region on a regular basis.
