Fleet Workshop Manager

When people think of Severn Trent, they immediately think of water and waste – and that's only natural – it's our bread and butter after all… but you might not realise we have a thriving Fleet team who currently repair and maintain a fleet of over 2,900 vehicles!   From company cars to water tankers, we ensure that Severn Trent can safely transport equipment, valuable resources and our teams around safely and efficiently from A to B, day in day out.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our Mansfield depot is looking for a new Fleet Workshop Manager who will come in and provide direction and leadership to our dedicated team of technicians and apprentices, as they deliver maintenance and reactive repairs to our extensive fleet across the East Midlands.

In this high-profile role, we’ll look for you to bring an energy and enthusiasm to the workshop, managing the performance across financial, technician and service delivery targets, ensuring your customers’ needs and expectations are met or exceeded.  Ensuring parts and spares spend for the workshop will be considered part of your day to day, while always considering the best value proposition across all the work the team does.

Other key accountabilities in the role include:-

  • Responsible for the operational management and financial performance of your own workshop and customer interactions and relationships.
  • Ensuring your workshop teams are prepared, competent and compliant and have what they need to deliver their day to roles from a vehicle maintenance perspective.
  • Keeping your customers regularly updated, engaged and informed. Supply feedback to the wider fleet team on vehicle downtime and vehicle concerns through the vehicle replacement plan.
  • Making certain that our people go home safe and well each day, with Health and Safety at the forefront of your decision-making.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

To succeed in this role we’ll be looking for you to have demonstratable knowledge and experience in the commercial vehicle / HGV sector, with it being highly desirable if you have experience of working hands on with HGV’s, while also being adept at working in an operational vehicle maintenance environment.  As you will be managing a team of 6 to 8 technicians, being able to show you have managed and lead workshop teams will be key.  Having a working knowledge of all daily fleet processes, health and safety regulations, DVSA standards will be essential to keep both you, the team and wider customers safe at all times.

We’ll want you to have the ability to manage and lead an operational workshop team and have a demonstrable track record on decision-making – thinking about both the customer and yourself in deciding appropriate solutions.  We’ll want you to be an effective communicator using both experience and people skills to deliver the best outcomes and be able to work at pace and be able to self-manage.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involve. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?

We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live.
