Assistant Project Manager
What do you get if you cross an award winning, innovative, water and wastewater company and one team of experts delivering brilliantly, always? Our Technical & Contract Services (TCS) delivery team of course!
Our ambitious and innovative projects (all 500+ of them) help to combat the challenges of waste and water infrastructure, flooding and water quality. Being part of our TCS delivery team means we can do the best by our customers and our water.
If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.
We are looking for a Assistant Project Manager to deliver, lead and support our spills reduction programme in the Waste Complex TCS team.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll need a strong delivery mindset with key skills in planning and project management as well as a good knowledge of waste water assets. You’ll be delivering high profile projects on the spill’s reduction programme for TCS, delivering additional on-site modular storage tanks, refurbishment and reinstatement of abandoned assets, installation of flap vales/non-return valves on sewer assets and relining of sewers, to name just a few. All of this with an aim to reduce Severn Trent’s average spills to below 20 per annum.
To deliver the programme, you’ll be working closely with our internal Tactical Asset Planning (TAP) teams to track and identify opportunities for outputs, whilst also ensuring we are compliant with the expectations of our regulators, to time, cost and quality. You’ll support the senior project manager to drive the programme from design through to completion, engage with key stakeholders (both internally and externally) along the way, whilst ensuring projects are closed out and benefits realised in a timely manner.
The Assistant Project Manager will undertake site visits with contractors for scoping works through to the delivery of those identified assets. For this you’ll need to be mobile and able to travel across the Severn Trent region. You’ll also support the reporting up to the spills reduction board on progress to date and supporting the wider project team to ensure delivery.
With a diverse programme in the Waste Complex TCS team, you’ll see a wide range of site activities from construction of new Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDs) for rainwater treatment to refurbishment of Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) screens, for example. The programme of works in the Waste Complex TCS team is prioritised through our TAP team, so stakeholder management is key throughout the project life cycle.
You`ll be competent in managing the six aspects of a project, i.e. scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality and resources. You`ll drive the project plans, safeguard milestone delivery and also ensure reporting of progress through to the Business Lead.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
You’ll come equipped with confident communication, team membership, leadership and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive and flexible approach to working, and have excellent planning and organising skills.
You`ll also bring your strong conflict management skills and would ideally be NEC4 and/or APM or equivalent project management qualified; however, if you`re working towards it that`s still fine, we would be happy to support you throughout your journey. Ideally you’ll be able to demonstrate experience of managing multiple projects or programmes of work at a given time, whilst remaining curious, being courageous, taking care and being proud of what you and the team do.
Being a regional based team, it’s essential you’re able to travel independently but you’ll be based from either Raynesway, Derby or Shelton, Shrewsbury.
The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity and a caring attitude we want to talk to you, too.
We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involve. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?
We do more, because we care.
