Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care.

We have a brilliant opportunity to join our Capital and Commercial Services as a Carbon Reporting Expert!

We are on the lookout for someone passionate and innovative who will be key to helping inform on our commitments and drive change through clear and insightful data and carbon knowledge.

Our commitments are industry leading to reach Net Zero by 2030 (scope 1 & 2), supported by our Science Based Targets (scope 3), internal capital carbon design targets and our new bespoke embodied carbon outcome delivery incentive (ODI).

Sound like you? Please read on.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

In this role you will lead our annual reporting submission to Ofwat for capital Scope 3 carbon and drive improvement to our data in alignment with regulatory compliance.

You’ll monitor performance against our contractual carbon reduction emissions targets and provide teams with critical performance data and insight they can use to drive greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction.

You will own the development of our carbon tools and how they interact with other sustainable optioneering tools.

Key accountabilities:

You’ll be responsible for the collection, analysis, assurance and reporting process for GHG emissions data across Scope 3 emissions, including leading the annual and mid-year audit processes.

Good knowledge of GHG Protocol, Ofwat reporting requirements and PAS 2080, to aid the development of the information we calculate and use to drive down our emissions. You will help shape the businesses reporting strategy for Scope 3.

You will own the development of our current carbon calculating tools and the processes that integrate with them. This will involve working with new technologies and multiple departments across the business.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate would have a sharp analytical focus with the ability to drive performance and engagement with internal teams. We need someone with great communication skills with a good sense of humour, if possible.

One who can engage with stakeholders internally and externally to keep informed of performance reporting requirements and develop targets and measures to help support this. This will include providing data, insight and supporting commentary into the carbon programme and company publications e.g. annual reports, sustainability reports.

Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets, and those with the right experience but we value character, positivity, and a caring attitude in equal weight.

We want people who show up and roll their sleeves up. Restless spirits who are ready to be part of something bigger, who care, who really care... because when you really care, you’ll go above and beyond. When you really care you don’t just talk about it, you do more.

And when it comes to inclusion, we’re making sure we keep up the progress with our wonderful working groups – LGBTQ+, Women in Operations & STEM, Disability and Ethnicity, who help us do just that.

We do more, because we care.
