Here at Severn Trent Water, we are on a very exciting journey!  Within our Capital Design and Delivery department, we are looking for a Principal Civil Design Engineer to join our Water Networks team based in Shrewsbury.

 

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

 

Reporting to the Design Manager, the Principal Design Engineer will provide design and oversight of technical solutions for Water Networks schemes for Severn Trent’s design department. 

 

You will undertake optioneering, outline and detail design for projects within agreed timescales and budgets. You will support the wider design team to develop our in-house design capability.

 

On a day-to-day basis, you will work closely with designers and support them on their career journey, stakeholders and support the project management teams.

 

You will be able to undertake the role of Principal Designer in accordance with CDM regulations. You will drive health and safety, manage and communicate risks, challenge designs and ensure that appropriate support is provided to the project management team so that the solution is delivered efficiently.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

 

Ideally qualified in a technical engineering or design related discipline, you will be an experienced Water Networks engineer, with a track record of delivering designs on large water networks projects.

 

You will have extensive experience of implementing CDM regulations in the design process and strong understanding of risk management in construction and operational design.

 

You will have experience of providing designs and specifications for commercial negotiations and a proven track record of continuous development of innovative solutions in the delivery of water networks projects.

 

You will have experience working within a diverse team of engineers with different skillsets and be able to demonstrate how you have supported others on their career journey.

 

You will have excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people. You will be a forward-thinking innovator, capable of anticipating challenges and responding to change in a rapidly evolving environment. You will be able to make educated judgments and decisions in the face of ambiguity, and have a good grasp of the bigger picture, seeking opportunities to contribute to the wider agenda.
