EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
Our Water Quality & Environment team have an opportunity for you to join as our Quality Technician Team Leader.  This is a 12 month maternity cover role. 
 In this role, you will lead a team of technicians responsible for sampling and scheduling regulatory drinking water samples and other reactive samples. You will ensure excellent customer service and compliance with ISO17025 and DWTS accreditation. Effective resource management, including manpower and equipment, is crucial to meet regulatory requirements, with a budget of £500K per annum.
Additionally, you will oversee the training, recruitment, and competence of quality inspectors, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and DWI regulations. You will manage health and safety requirements, resolve key risks, and prevent data and quality errors through education and training. Liaising with external stakeholders like DWI and UKAS, and influencing internal stakeholders for targeted capital expenditure, are also key aspects of this role.
 
Some of your other key accountabilities will include:
 
•    Ensure effective resource management to deliver requirements of the Annual Sampling Plan whilst balancing against reactive workloads through freedom of thinking. Delivery of key targets such as unrecoverable shortfalls by driving best practice into the team
 
•    Undertake effective staff recruitment and selection. Ensure new starters receive an effective induction into the company and undertake a comprehensive training programme
 
•    Ensure compliance with internal and external requirements i.e.: HSE, HR, Quality procedures and policies; DWI, EA, UKAS and any other relevant organizations to which we adopt or work to.
 
•    Promote and lead problem-solving activities within your team and others to ensure continuous improvement through technical and process improvement
 
•    Ensure communication of all relevant information in an effective and timely manner, always maintaining the company’s vision and values
 
•    Ensure that data issues and Customer Queries are rectified in a timely
 
 
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
 
In order to succeed in the role as our new Quality Technician Team Leader you will need to have had experience in a regulatory environment in the Water Industry or similar Utility or Environmental Industries.
 
You must be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding of the principles and practice of analytical quality control along with having the technical knowledge and experience through an up to date CPD record covering regulation 16 criteria 1 – 16. If you have worked within a Worked within an ISO17025 quality system this would be desirable.
 
This role involves travel you’ll also need to hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
