Wastewater Senior Technician

As a Senior Technician in Waste Recycling you will be covering the Staffordshire Moorlands area. The role will be to ensure we meet our Key Business objectives Safer Better & Faster, including the 4 Production Principles – protecting the environment, a proactive mind-set, technical expertise and driving highest site standards. The role will give you the opportunity to be outdoors, for most of your working day, with all that comes with that, you will find yourself in urban and rural settings so you will be provided with equipment, work clothing and a company vehicle.


This key role in the team supports, the team manager with health and safety compliance and asset improvements. This will include identifying and implementing final effluent quality improvements with the process advisor. Furthermore, you would be expected to create/review contingency plans and help with completing pollution storyboards.

You will also help in identifying and delivering efficiency savings, such as power reduction and chemical usage through process optimisation. Also managing assets is a key aspect of the role especially getting them back into service as soon as possible.


You will also be part of an out of hours standby cover rota.

Your key accountabilities in helping us will be:

  • Enable the team to manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of wholesale assets through allocated resources (people, capital assets, IT and finance).
  • Assist the Team Manager and planner with controlling operations and access for third party work on site
  • Have a real focus on Health Safety and Well Being to ensure that nobody gets hurt or made unwell by our activities
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and company requirements.
  • Ensure consistent use and application of standardised practices and procedures for the management of H&S risk and quality problems, with full adherence to and promotion of the Company principles
  • Support the Area Manager in interpretation of relevant policies, assessing the impact of implementation and developing implementation plans.



Having experience in a supervisory position or exhibit relevant leadership behaviours would be advantageous. Having supported local operators and maintenance teams in the development of cost saving, optimisation and improvement activities including in areas such as sludge, pollutions, and alarms would be beneficial. Experience in handling customer issues and good maintenance/technical background would be desired. A full UK driving licence will be required for the role.
