EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
The role involves accurate measurement and reporting of water consumption for billing the MoD on our Package C contract, which is valued in excess of £40 million per annum. Additionally, you will advise and provide insight on consumption and distribution losses to help increase STS business revenue, reduce expenditure, and boost profits.
You will be responsible for providing accurate reporting outputs that comply with business and contractual requirements. This includes engaging with external stakeholders, such as the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), to provide measurement assurance. Accurate consumption forecasting will also be a key part of your role, supporting financial business planning.
Furthermore, you will engage with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership and technical staff throughout STS, to ensure all reporting and forecasting activities are aligned with business objectives.
Some of the other accountabilities:
- Own the tools, systems, and methodology for calculating MoD consumption on the Package C contract, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, and maintaining accurate metering and measurement arrangements at each MoD site.
- Consistently meet reporting expectations of external and internal stakeholders, providing timely and detailed responses to MoD assurance questions, and reconciling consumption and distribution loss calculations monthly and quarterly.
- Report distribution losses (leakage or unaccounted-for water) in a format and frequency that drives team engagement, and re-forecast consumption monthly with updated trends and predictions for quarterly and year-end outcomes.
- Analyse data to identify new opportunities for improved business performance and inspire technical conversations with Network Analysts and Field Specialists to ensure accurate consumption capture and reporting.
- Support the development of long-term strategies to drive efficient reductions in SU charges and mitigate risks associated with inaccurate reporting, while leading and inspiring the team to deliver and embed improved operating processes with reporting to agreed standards.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
To succeed in this role, you should have proven experience operating within fixed timescales, providing accurate and consistent financial and/or volume reporting. You should possess knowledge of how water and wastewater networks operate and have experience managing large quantities of data, identifying trends, projecting outcomes, and understanding root causes of issues. Experience working effectively in a team environment and managing expectations of multiple internal and external stakeholders is essential.
You should demonstrate the ability to work as a team player, solving problems and thinking logically to achieve results, and have proven leadership skills to engage and inspire great performance from the team and others. Knowledge and understanding of working in environments where accuracy and reliability are essential is crucial, along with a full UK driving licence and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Experience of using Waternet software or other demand management tools would be beneficial.
