In your role you will have the opportunity to embrace curiosity, work with innovative technologies and learn new skills outside of your ‘day job’.  We are encouraged to find new ways of working, supporting us and our colleagues in fixing things for customers before they go wrong. You will be willing to learn new things and embrace the challenges you may face along the way.

 

Whilst this is a position with a fixed shift pattern, the successful candidate may be required to work alternative shifts on occasion. The successful candidate will be required to undertake standby duties on a rota basis. 

 

Your key accountabilities in helping us will be:

 

• Operate water treatment works (WTW), raw water intake (RWI) and associated assets.

• Maintain & improve site standards/ identify Health and Safety improvements.

• Operate the assets under your control to ensure that all quality and quantity limits are met.

• Participate in an out of hours standby rota

• Ensure the Health & Safety of yourself, colleagues, visitors and members of the public is maintained at all times

• Ensure sites are operated at a minimum cost in an energy efficient way.

• Comply with statutory, company policies and procedures.

• Operate the assets under your control to ensure that there is no adverse impact on the environment.

 

We’re big believers in training, learning, and development at Severn Trent. So as part of the role, you will undertake a Level 2 apprenticeship as part of your technical training. This training will take a minimum of 12 months, up to 15 months with 3 days a month in Coventry at our Academy.

 

As part of the training, we’ll also help you to achieve a Functional skills level 1 qualification if you’re not able to evidence your GCSE grades. There is lots of support available to complete this before you take your qualification, and you can have up to 12 months to get ready.

In addition to this, you will complete a portfolio of work that will be assessed at the end of your training and you will also be assessed independently on site to demonstrate you are capable to carry out all of your role.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

 

Having experience in Working in a mechanical / electrical environment would be advantageous and working with chemical processes would be beneficial. A full valid UK driving licence would be required for the role. 

 

Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets, and those with the right experience but we value character, positivity and a caring attitude in equal weight.
