EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As a Technical Operator, you’ll be part of a dynamic team, predominantly operating at Draycote. Your role will be to produce drinking water to high quality standards for our customers, in the most cost efficient and safe manner. You will work alongside a dedicated maintenance team, process team and Team Manager using control platforms such as SCADA and PRISM to operate the work.
Some of your other key accountabilities will include:
• Maintain & improve site standards/ identify Health and Safety improvements.
• Operate the assets under your control to ensure that all quality and quantity limits are met.
• Ensure the Health & Safety of yourself, colleagues, visitors and members of the public is maintained at all times.
• Ensure sites are operated at a minimum cost in an energy efficient way.
• Comply with statutory, company policies and procedures by carrying out statutory compliance tasks such as reservoir walks at Draycote and Stanford reservoirs.
• Operate the assets under your control to ensure that there is no adverse impact on the environment.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake standby duties on a rota basis.
We’re big believers in training, learning, and development at Severn Trent. So as part of the role, you will undertake a Level 2 apprenticeship as part of your technical training. This training will take a minimum of 12 months, up to 15 months with 3 days a month in Coventry at our Academy.
As part of the training, we’ll also help you to achieve a Functional skills level 1 qualification if you’re not able to evidence your GCSE grades. There is lots of support available to complete this before you take your qualification, and you can have up to 12 months to get ready.
In addition to this, you will complete a portfolio of work that will be assessed at the end of your training and you will also be assessed independently on site to demonstrate you are capable to carry out all of your role.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Having an excellent organisation skills and be efficient with the capability of completing a number of tasks at once whilst working well under pressure would be advantageous. We are looking for a candidate who can work unsupervised and within a team framework to meet deadlines and good communication skills. Having the ability to analyse information to spot potential problems would be beneficial and working shifts would be desirable. A full UK driving licence will be required for the role.
The successful candidate will be required to achieve the qualification Level 2 – Water Treatment Process Operator as part of their continuous development and delivered by our Academy.
