We are seeking a dynamic Surveyor to spearhead our efforts in ensuring the timely and appropriate acquisition of land interests and rights, ultimately delivering investment for our customers.
With that in mind, we are looking for a Surveyor to support in the crucial delivery of new infrastructure and non-infrastructure capital investment for our customers. This role can be based at any of our hubs in Shrewsbury, Derby or Coventry.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As a Surveyor at Severn Trent your passion for devising acquisition strategies will be pivotal in driving our capital program forward. Key responsibilities include supporting the delivery of new infra and non-infra capital investment, managing impacts on third-party land, and safeguarding our land interests and rights.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping our strategy to meet the evolving needs of our AMP8 onwards delivery requirements. You will be responsible for developing comprehensive strategies that align with our organisational goals and objectives, ensuring efficient and effective land acquisition processes and use of Water Industry Act 1991 powers.
In addition, you will oversee the management of ongoing land acquisitions and pipelaying projects through our supply chain, intervening as necessary to address any issues and maximise opportunities. Your role will involve providing technical expertise on feasibility studies and optioneering work for capital investment projects, guiding the strategy to optimise outcomes.
For you to excel in this role, you will be accountable for proactively identifying and advising on issues and risks related to both capital projects and service delivery. This includes advising on the development and utilisation of statutory powers, policies and procedures, collaborating with key stakeholders to build robust cases when necessary.
Additionally, you will be responsible for reporting and performance management of suppliers involved in acquisitions, pipelaying works and compensation management working closely with the Principal Surveyor and CCS to ensure alignment with organisational standards and objectives. Your expertise will also be crucial in providing risk-based technical input on land-based risks associated with capital investment delivery strategies.
To be successful in this role you will collaborate with customer and media stakeholders as needed to address escalated complaints related to private land activities. Your technical input and support on use of statutory powers affecting land ownership and rights will be essential, including providing advice on implications and representing our interests in negotiations.
Overall, you will be instrumental in providing effective technical surveying advice relating to land interests and rights, contributing to the success of our team and business objectives.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Joining the role of Surveyor you will bring proven post MRICS/AssocRICS qualification (or comparable) experience in land access rights and acquisitions. It would be advantageous if you have previous working experience in or with a utility provider on land access rights, acquisitions and/ or compensation management but broader general practice will also set you up for success in this role.
This role will see the use of all of your communication and stakeholder management skills as you will be working in a diverse project team (both internally, externally and third party) with engagement and influencing required across multiple areas of the business.
