We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Legal Team as a Paralegal (Customer & Data Protection). The role will be based at our head office in Coventry, and you’ll act as an assistant to both the Data Protection Officer who ensures that we are doing the right thing to protect our personal data and the Legal Counsel responsible for Customer. This role will give you experience in data protection and customer and working in a high performing team.  

 

We have a track record of supporting and coaching colleagues to make sure they develop, and the role is a great way to demonstrate excellent stakeholder management, written communication to all levels, and increase your understanding of our Customer and Data Protection work.

Your other key accountabilities will include:

  • Assisting with and investigating potential data breaches
  • Maintaining records to meet internal and external requirements
  • Assisting with the Data Protection Impact Assessment Process & Platform
  • Supporting the wider business in specific basic data protection queries in contracts for the provision of services
  • Providing specific basic advice on Data Sharing Agreements and requirements
  • Liaising with and being a key contact for the data stewards for our business
  • Responsibility to support the Customer Legal Counsel with her advice on day-to-day customer complaints
  • Assisting the Customer Legal Counsel with more complicated customer issues, including high priority complaints
  • Liaising with external legal counsel mainly in relation to Water Industry Act queries

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

 

We’re looking for the successful candidate to work under pressure and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, particularly important given the dual nature of this role. Having the ability to work successfully as part of a team and engage with various stakeholders would be required. An understanding of the GDPR and other relevant Data Protection regulations (ideally covering both the UK & EU) would be helpful, although not essential.
