EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Working within our reactive Customer Network Operations Department You get the chance to join the Distribution Service Delivery team as a Distribution Service Technician. This role is crucial for ensuring a reliable water supply by maintaining both underground pipes and above-ground assets, DSTs play a key part in preventing and addressing leaks, which is vital for water conservation and customer satisfaction. Please note the location of this position is in Wrexham.
The responsibilities include direct customer interaction, resolving issues promptly, and collaborating with various departments and contract partners. This multifaceted role not only requires technical skills but also strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Your key accountabilities in helping us will be:
• Responsible to deliver the work scheduled in accordance with the Companies service level agreements or customer service standards.
• Accountable for their own health & safety and have a duty of care to their colleagues & anyone affected by the work they do, for example general public / site personal.
• There is a need to exercise judgment / balance on the resourcing of these activities, the risk / impact of leakage activities our customers, the general public, and road-traffic users and to ensure compliance with our statutory, regulatory and company standards at all times.
• Be able to effectively assess the location of future repair and maintenance work by colleagues, in order that the correct arrangements can be made for “right first time” repairs.
• Be able to carry out risk assessments in conjunction with own tasks and that of follow on work.
• Perform the duties of the role in compliance with statutory or regulatory standards, e.g. – hygiene, NRSWA (New Roads & Street Works Act) and environmental.
• Carry out distribution operational activities on site e.g. Flushing and cleansing of water mains, pressure, flow and disinfection management, disinfection of water mains, tracing mains and apparatus, customer warning, valve operations and valving for interruptions to supply. These operations will include both simple / low risk and complex / high risk valve operations
• The role will undertake the full range of duties involved in delivering an effective leakage detection service, this will include DMA (District Metered Area) upstream Ownership and validation under DMA Improvements.
• Assess and utilise the correct Leakage method for an area or issue to gain the best results.
• Mentor Contract partners in the best use of leakage technology and methods.
• Undertake PRV maintenance program
• Consumption monitoring
• Step testing
